Training Class a Success

Classic Coatings Systems helps 30 contractors gain decorative concrete skills

Over 30 contractors attended a recent 2-day hands-on certification class offered by Classic Coatings Systems. The cost for attendees was $250.00 to cover the materials. Each attendee got their hands dirty on sample boards and left with buckets of material to use later. Translation was available for those who spoke Spanish. I had the opportunity to join the class for the day, browse the pictures below for a recap of the event.

Attendees got to work with Classic Coatings Systems’ epoxy coatings. Each student created a sample board as part of the class.

This is another shot of the epoxy coating system in brown with Marble FX sprayed on to give it a very unique look.
Trainers also explained and demonstrated how to apply a stampable vertical overlay.
Attendees huddled around the vertical application, eagerly getting tips on what to do.
Carlos, the trainer from Classic Coatings Systems, showed everyone how to hand carve the vertical overlay into blocks. The surface had already been textured with a seamless texture skin (see the finished product in the next photo).

Attendees also learned how to use stencils and epoxies to create a logo. During the class the Thompson’s Building Materials’ logo, the facility that graciously hosted the event, was created. Here, the first stencil is being removed in preparation for the next layer.
Here, the second layer of the stencil for the Thompson’s Building Materials’ logo is being applied. The heat gun was used to level the epoxy and get rid of bubbles (see the finished logo in the next photo).
